Tips For Using Cushions To Decorate Your Living Room
Over time, you will find yourself getting tired of looking at the same living room. You can spruce it up and give it a new look without spending a lot of money. The room will go through some wear and tear and you will notice that it collects a lot of clutter as well over the years. You may not have a big budget to re-paint the room and buy new furniture. A simple hack you can use to upgrade or transform the appearance of your living room is to add a few cushions.
First of all, you have to clean up the room and remove the clutter from it. It can become very disorganized and messy when you cram in so many items into the space. Once you bring the living room back to its simple arrangement, it is time to go shopping for castle cushions and throw pillows. The cushions on the sofa shouldn’t be the same colour as the sofa. This will wash them out and the sofa will look drab and boring. It goes against the whole reason of buying cushions for your room which is to add colour and texture to it. Go for cushions that contrast with the colour of the couch while complementing well with the theme of your living room. You will not believe how much difference they would make. Selecting the colour of your cushions will be a difficult decision.
You have to go for a colour that will unify the different elements in the living room. You already will have different colours and texture in your living room from the paintings in the wall, different ornaments, colour of your walls and floor, the texture of throw rugs etc. Make sure that you use colours that you already have in the living room for your cushions so that they can look as if they belong. But this doesn’t mean choosing cushions that are bright and contrasting with each other. The colours of the cushions should be complementary and they should look as if they are in a set. You can get the colours to match the coffee table, your curtains, a painting you have, your bookshelf etc. Try to find 2 or 3 colours that are already in the room. You have to decide on the number of cushions you will buy. If you have a traditional or classically furnished living room with deep colours, you can go for an even number of cushions. An odd number of cushions will give a more modern look. The actual number of cushions you want to purchase depends on the number of sofas you have and how big they are. A sofa that can seat 3 people can have a maximum of 5 cushions while a sofa for 2 people can have up to 4 cushions. A sofa chair for one person will be fine with just one cushion.
